Close to home
This article in the Washington Post strikes close to home.
My wife and I live on the outskirts of Clintonville. She leans heavily to the left and has never entertained the thought of voting for President Bush. We also have had discussions on why women have been voting for Bush in the past. I am not sure if she will ever understand why, but this is another article that ties in the “Security Mom” trend and why it is ending in Ohio. It was certainly hard to understand seeing all sorts of “Bush ’04” signs in such a liberal area. You certainly don’t see signs for Republican candidates today.
As an aside, there is considerable commentary about the false fear in the heartland over terror attacks. I agree for the most part, but in the last couple of years several people have been arrested, tried, and convicted on terror charges from the Columbus area. The most notable being the guy who was “plotting” to blow up the Polaris or City Center shopping malls in Columbus.
