A Boston Doubleheader

June 16, 2007

The US National team dispatched of Panama 2-1 in the Gold Cup and the Crew followed up with a 3-3 tie versus the New England Revolution at Gillette field. I expected the  National team to win. I am exited about the upcoming game versus Canada this Thursday. It will be a border matchup that is pretty intriguing.

The Crew were a different story for most of the game. They went up 1-0 after 10 minutes, but soon threw it all away. The Crew were down 3-1 approaching halftime. The new playmaker Guillermo Barros Schelotto took a pass from Ned Grabavoy and onetimed it past Matt Reis in 1st half extra time to cut the lead in half. The Crew came out and played a solid second half and tied it up on a Alejandro Moreno header from a Schelotto cross. I cannot recall being this excited for the next Crew home game. I will be there on Wednesday night. It has been a tough couple years for Crew fans; I hope the team is turning the corner.

Go Crew.
