My Turn to Go to the Hospital

September 1, 2007

Erica’s mother has a phrase “It’s not my day to go to the hospital”. I thought of this as I drove Erica to the emergency room yesterday. Erica had been in pain for 18 hours at that point and it was not getting any better. After two hours and a few tests, the doctor believes it is pancreatits caused by gallstones. That diagnosis is one of the better options that it could have been. Erica may not agree. She will be in the hospital until the pancreatits subsides and the gallstone is not an issue. This may last a few days. She gets to go back in a couple of weeks to get her gallbladder removed. It is not a lot of fun, but she is supposed to make a quick and full recovery when this is over.
